Campus Applications
One of the most successful applications comes from the College of Nursing admissions office where its blog gives "potential Master's, Post-Master's and Doctoral applicants another resource to find and ask for information."
The office introduced "guest bloggers"--current students who share information about themselves, their experiences as an online student, personal goals, and advice for potential applicants.
The College of Nursing promotes a sense of community and that may be the reason that students and faculty were willing participants. In addition, there were over 100 people who requested email notifications of new entries. This type of blogging application has great potential for adoption by many other campus units.
In order to be successful, the department must have a blogging champion. The champion takes responsibility to add entries and contact authors for content.
