OIA Administrative Practices

The OIA began using its Drupal CMS for class blogs in June 2011.

Access to a class blog is secured behind the UA's authentication system, WebAuth. This prohibits access to the ubiquitous blog comments spammers who have been hammering our MovableType blogs - even with Captcha being used. As a rule, we are restricting access to only the students in the class. UA students not in the class will not be able to login and see your students blogs. Consult with the OIA blog administrator for more information.

Attention faculty: Allow a one week turn around time from when you provide your class roster to when your course blogs become available. Important: class blogs are deleted following the semester for which they were created. Consult with the OIA blog administrator regarding exceptions.

Authoring privileges for persons not with the UA, that is they do not have a UA Net ID, must state in an email message to the OIA blog administrator that they have read and agree to abide by the UA's Acceptable Use of Computers and Networks policy. Only then will access to the blog be provided.
